yes! and they are super tasty! But they do take longer than many other seeds to sprout so it’s sometimes easier as microgreens.

Some people like to rinse away the hard leftover hulls before eating their sprouts. If you put your sprouts in a deep bowl and fill with water, you will find most of the hulls float to the top. Give the sprouts a couple of swishes/rinses, and you should be able to get rid of most of the hulls. You can definitely eat them- just extra fiber! Lol but if you’re concerned about your crowns, it’s easy enough to skip them. :) Happy sprouting!

I love sprouts (and I sprout them) but they have me worried about breaking my teeth (crowns.) Are there sprouts that have less potential for this??? Are there sprouts with softer seeds?

I find fenugreek sprouts very sweet and juicy. They’ve become my favorite sprout. I’ve grown them as a microgreen, too, and they have a slight bitterness as a microgreen but that is completely missing from the sprout stage. Even as a microgreen they aren’t really bitter like an orange peel is bitter. They have so many health benefits including supporting normal blood sugar and helping with inflammation and high cholesterol, increasing mother’s milk supply, and best of all, they smell and taste like maple syrup. (in the sprout stage). Also they are very easy to sprout. Soak them no longer than 4 hours and then use your normal sprouting technique. I highly recommend trying them.

Hi Kelley, Those are microgreens (in soil) and the benefit to either method is just personal preference. Have a read about microgreens here: https://gardentherapy.ca/how-to-grow-microgreens/
