Hard to know, but keep tending to them as they are generally pretty tough!

Is there a way to keep them upright or are the stems not healthy enough to keep the flower standing?

I dug them out and the crown is mushy. I re-planted with the crown barely covered, but is it too late? Is there any chance they well recover?

Hi Wendy, it’s hard to know what seeded there unless you let them grow a little.

I’m not sure if these are weeds that I should clear, or if the plant has dropped seeds and I should leave them alone. All the online videos I watch don’t seem to have this so if they are weeds, I want to clear them while they are seedlings or I will have a huge problem…. If they are hellebores, obviously I want to leave them alone.

Hi Wendy, I’m not sure. I think the easiest way to propagate them is to buy roots for the varieties you like, and divide them. There are plenty of trusted online and Lilley local nurseries that will have them, but I can’t find a trusted source for seeds.

I don’t fertilize, but instead, I amend the soil yearly with compost and other green amendments: https://gardentherapy.ca/soil-food/

As you suggested, I will cut back all the damaged leaves and hope for more soon. I have had them in pots and placed with Hostas and ferns for a few years now. They have really struggled. Do you fertilize?
