My heart was severe punctured during the procedure-code blue! Over 2 week stay in hospital and 2.5+ years of recovery. I contribute gardening to recovering. No longer in that space, but continue to garden for movement, building strength, balance and to focus on the beauty and healing process of the garden.

Last summer was hot and extremely dry and I was depressed. Could hardly get myself of the couch to fix a meal for my husband and I. Normally, I LOVE to cook. This year after some soul searching and a lot of praying, I realized I needed to get outside and tend my gardens that I so severely neglected last summer. Also, my Granddaughter sent me 3 huge boxes of house plants because she and her husband are being transferred to Europe and she just couldn’t let go of all her plants, so I have to keep all those houseplants alive too! It’s finally coming together a little bit and I’m pretty excited about it. TONS of weeds yet to pull, but there’s quite a bit of summer left. Thanks for your inspiration.

I’m going to try that this summer. Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing your story.

I recently received a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer and used to be a great gardener years (decades) ago. So naturally I’m wondering what illness you healed from with the gardening. Is that something you would share?

Thank you!
